There are many ways to tell this story.
I could start it about a poor farm boy who lived in a valley surrounded on three sides by tall, cold mountains. He stayed with his mother and sister and two brothers while his father cooked for the troops in Inner Mongolia, and whenever his father came home they would sit around the coals and he would do pancake tricks for them.
